As I sit on my porch, coffee in hand, watching the sun rise over Centurion, I can’t help but reflect on the daily battle we, as South Africans, fight to provide for our families. The cost of living keeps climbing, salaries don’t stretch as far as they used to, and every day feels like a new financial hurdle. Yet, somehow, we survive.
I’ve been in business for years, building websites, writing software, running ventures like CRM Pro, Easy Billing, and SmartPOS, and I’ve seen firsthand how people hustle just to make ends meet. I see mothers selling food on street corners, fathers doing side jobs after hours, young entrepreneurs creating opportunities out of nothing. We are a nation of fighters, refusing to go down without a battle.
I’ve had my own share of struggles—months where the bills piled up, times when business was slow, moments when I wondered how I was going to keep it all together. And yet, just when things seemed impossible, something always happened. A new client would reach out, an unexpected deal would come through, or someone would offer help at exactly the right moment.
Call it faith, call it perseverance, call it a miracle—whatever it is, it keeps us going.
South Africans don’t just survive; we endure. We laugh in the face of hardship, we support each other even when we have little, and we wake up every day ready to fight again. Yes, life is tough. But we are tougher.
And somehow, some way, by a miracle—every single day—we make it through.
