This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the acceptable use of the network, infrastructure, and services provided by Christo Lochenberg Developments. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. General Restrictions
You may not use our services to:
- Violate any local, provincial, national, or international law or regulation.
- Transmit, distribute, or store material that is protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights without proper authorization.
- Host content that is threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, indecent, or hateful.
- Engage in "phishing" or the hosting of "phishing" sites.
2. Electronic Mail & Anti-Spam (Zero Tolerance)
We adhere to a strict Zero Tolerance policy regarding Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE) and Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE), commonly known as "Spam".
- Sending: You may not send Spam from our network or servers.
- Blacklisting: If your domain or IP address causes our network to be blacklisted (e.g., Spamhaus, RBLs), your service will be suspended immediately. A cleanup administrative fee of ZAR 1,500.00 will be charged.
- Volume Limits: Shared hosting accounts are limited to 100 emails per hour to protect IP reputation.
- Mailing Lists: All mailing lists must be "Double Opt-In".
3. System & Network Security
Violations of system or network security are prohibited and may result in criminal and civil liability. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Unauthorized access to or use of data, systems, or networks (Hacking/Cracking).
- Interference with service to any user, host, or network (Denial of Service attacks).
- Port scanning or security probing.
- Forging of any TCP-IP packet header or any part of the header information in an email.
4. Shared Hosting Resource Usage ("Fair Use")
To ensure reliability for all clients on shared servers, the following limits apply:
- CPU/RAM: Scripts may not use 25% or more of system resources for longer than 90 seconds.
- Cron Jobs: Automated tasks may not run more frequently than every 5 minutes.
- Processes: No background daemons (e.g., IRC bots, eggdrops, BitchX, XiRCON) are allowed.
- Storage: Hosting accounts may not be used as a backup/storage facility for content not used for the website operation (e.g., archiving personal photos/videos).
5. Crypto-Currency Mining
The use of our servers for mining cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, etc.) is strictly prohibited. Detection of such activity will result in immediate termination without refund.
6. Take-Down Procedure (ISPA)
In terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, we act as a conduit. Upon receipt of a valid Take-Down Notice regarding illegal content hosted by a client, we reserve the right to suspend access to the offending content immediately.
